My Recipes

If you're new to my types of spice blends, you might want to read my page on How to Use Blacken. I know that when I first heard about this type of product, I was real confused as to what to do with it.

Most of the roughly 200 recipes I've got on Cap'n Ron's use Butt Kickin' Blacken as the primary flavoring ingredient. There is No Salt, No Sugar, No MSG, and no additional fillers used, plus it's an All Natural Blend.

I use this site to help everyone learn how better use my products, and get new ideas for different flavors. I consider recipes guidelines, or concepts. So, even though I give exact amounts for all of the ingredients, and the recipes all seem to work, you should cook to YOUR tastes, and not mine. So play around with the recipes, you'll have fun.

Try adding any one of my blackens to your own recipes, you'll find that a little bit of kick really takes anything with a Cream, or Cheese sauce to another level. Or, use it as a dusting for a garnish. Because there's no salt or sugar included, you'll find that it just adds another dimension to your food.

Thanks to all of the feedback I've received over the past 2 years, I've gotten better at being a little more detailed, both within the directions and in taking pictures. Although, you might find some of the older recipes aren't as detailed, I'm trying to work on the older ones to bring them up to par.

In answer to those who have asked if I have all these different sets of plates, the answer is a definite no. I actually purchase individual plates and platters to use for pictures, trying to use different colors and shapes to compliment the food.. I also buy poster board to use as tablecloths under the plates.

I try to post 5 or 6 new recipes each month, and I send out a flyer to all who've bought some blacken, and those who like my recipes, and want to receive the updates. If you would like to receive these updates, just send a short e-mail to me at THECAPN@CAPNRONS.COM. I'll be sure to add you to the list.

All my recipes are definitely tried and true. If I'm not cooking a party where I can test them, I've been known to run around the dock with a platter and a pocket full of forks. I've also got a buddy, who regularly comes over to eat dinner. It's great to share the cost of food, have someone to eat dinner with, have someone to help me critique my recipes, and not have to eat something, like Pot Roast or Stew, every night for 2 weeks. But if you find that I've screwed up, be sure to let me know. Especially, there are some recipes that I do quite often, and never look at. Needless to say I'm sure that there are a few errors within the 200+ recipes that I share with everyone.

Of course all these recipes include Butt Kickin' Blacken, and can be spicy hot, or not, depending upon how much you use. The amount I suggest in these recipes usually makes a "middle of the road" spicy dish.

Feedback is GREAT!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this recipe, or any other of my recipes you've either looked at or tried.

I try to work on new recipes all the time, and post them on www.capnrons.com once a month. After they're posted, I make up a flyer to send to friends, and those who have purchased any of my products.

Remember, all recipes should be considered guidlines for your cooking. It's O.K. to play around with some of the ingredients to adjust the flavors to your individual tastes.

If you'd like to receive these monthly mailings, sign up by sending an e-mail to:
